Comments: I was told by a friend, “You HAVE TO try EATALY!!!” and so I did, and it sucked.
On a Thursday at 7pm the half an hour wait for this crowded grocer/restaurant wasn’t so bad, I spent it studying the menu and exploring Eataly. Given my undying LOVE for cheese, butter and truffles, I had to have the buffalo mozzarella and pappardelle!
Given that it’s solo star of the dish, the buffalo mozz was a disappointment. It wasn’t smooth, light or fluffy but instead kinda dense and curdle-y, the sea salt and extra virgin olive oil helped but the bread sucked! The bread was rubbery, hard and bland.
The Pappardelle, oh the horror of this dish! This $59 dish had a pathetic amount of truffles – shaved, barely visible to the pallet. Not to mention my first dish was so salty you’ll get a sodium heart attack! They replaced it with another but still it was a plate of bullshit for that price; the butter sauce was uninteresting, the truffle shavings were redundant and I guess the pappardelle was nicely fresh but does not begin to compensate for everything else.
My friend’s pasta was also over-salted and we’ve also observed dissatisfaction with other patrons.
My experience at EATALY was NOT worth my CASH, CHOLESTEROL or CALORIES!
