Restaurant: Grimaldi’s Pizzeria
Location: Under the Brooklyn Bridge, 1 Front Street, Brooklyn, New York
Date consumed: 12 December 2014
What I ordered: Antipasto and Half white half regular pizza with Pepperoni, Italian sausage, Ham, Garlic and Jalapeño
Antipasto: 2 / 5 – Mehh [unimpressive]
Pizza: 3.5 / 5 – Tasty!
Comments: Grimaldi’s is known for their long wait in line, cash only, brick oven pizzas. I came on a chilly night in December around 7pm,and to my delight there wasn’t a line!
The antipasto is what it is, there’s nothing particularly impressive about any of the components. Skip it if you don’t need it!
I LOVE anything cheesy and creamy so I preferred the white over the regular. I also LOVE meat! As you may have noticed, I picked all the meat toppings that they offered.
The first two slices I had (one of each flavour) were really YUM! The garlic and jalapeño really enhanced the flavours and added a kick! But by the third slice the pizza had became cold and the yummy-ness significantly dropped 😦
Conclusion: Overall I really enjoyed the pizza while it was still warm. Now that I know what all the hype is about, I would wait no longer than 15 minutes in line for this.
I heard Juliana’s (which is next door) serves equally good/better pizzas and they’re using Grimaldi’s original brick oven!
